Welcome to Fontanini.OrgThis website contains information about collecting the art works of Elio Simonetti as manufactured by the Fontanini and Fonplast companies in Tuscany, Italy. These art works include figurines and plaques of the nativity, religious subjects, angels and cherubs, chess sets, toy soldiers, etc.This website is written by and for collectors. It is not affiliated in any way with the Fontanini companies or any of their affiliates around the world such as Roman, Inc. Our mission is to provide the collectors with accurate information concerning the Fontanini products. This information has previously been difficult or next to impossible to obtain. Since 1908 there have been many thousands of products introduced, first in composition (also called paper mache) and later in plastic. There was a porcelain factory, now closed, which operated about 17 years ending in 1967. A list of Fontanini products, which is an undertaking of monumental proportions, is being compiled by Jeff Schmitt. This database is often updated as information becomes available. Each entry will have one or more photographs (although there are currently many items that do not yet have their photograph uploaded). A search engine is provided to access the database in various ways.
